“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight …, then you will find your joy in the LORD.”

Isaiah 58:13-14
Once I gave my life to the Lord, my Sundays while I was in prison were a foretaste of heaven. I went to chapel in the morning and spent the rest of the day reading sermons or listening to hymns on the radio. I saw the Lord’s Day as distinct from every other day of the week. It was a day to delight myself in God, His Word, and the fellowship of His people.

Not long after my release, I’d been without work for nearly a month and was concerned I’d be unable to pay my parole fees. Suddenly, a job opened up. There was only one problem: I’d have to work on Sunday. After much prayer, I decided not to forsake the assembling of God’s people (see Hebrews 10:24-25), and have not regretted it since.

The Lord used that experience to bring a pastor into my life who gave me work, brought me into his own home, and introduced me to a church that welcomed me as a brother in Christ. It was there that I eventually met my wife. We’ve committed to setting Sunday apart from the other days of the week. Will you also consider doing the same, resting in Jesus?
