“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

Colossians 1:16
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep” (Genesis 1:1-2). “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1-3).

Out of chaos God, through Jesus, created an orderly world. But sin put the world back in chaos. For centuries God sent prophets and kings to speak for Him. Still there was chaos. For 400 years, God’s voice was silent. Then “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us … full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Chaos is God’s platform for creation.

Years ago I hosted a children’s television show. After one episode, a man wrote in saying he had watched it while struggling with suicidal thoughts. But after watching, he had new life. In the midst of our turmoil, Jesus makes new beginnings.

Whatever the chaos in your life, Jesus is creating something new.
