“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”

Revelation 21:3
The apostle John received a divine revelation with instruction to write down the words about what was to come. An angel was the messenger. All who heard the prophecy and took to heart what was spoken would be blessed.

Prophecies are about the now and also about the time to come. There were messages given specifically to the seven churches scattered throughout: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (2:7). There were words of reproof for abandoning their first love (2:4), but also words of affirmation about standing firm and not renouncing their faith (2:13). These and several other messages were for the churches at the time in which John was writing. Then as the revelation unfolds, we see that the words are for all who will hear in the future.

In the now of life there is pain, mourning, and death. But we live in the assurance that all of those things will be banished, and God Himself will wipe away our tears. Gathering in the house of the Lord, we will celebrate and rejoice forever.
