“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Jeremiah 29:7
The valleys of life are quite often places that we never intended to go, brought about by events and circumstances beyond our control. Some of those valleys are just “bumps in the road” of life; they may pass rather quickly. Others feel like deep pits offering no foreseeable way out. Right now you might be facing that kind of valley—financial crisis, abandonment, regret from mistakes, sickness and disease, imprisonment, loss of independence, impending death. How do we get through?

The history of the nation of Israel reveals a journey that led to captivity. But the writings of the priests and prophets declared that God would be with them and gave instructions of how to conduct life in a foreign land. They were to choose a normal way of living, worshipping God and praying for blessings on the inhabitants there.

The valley you are in or that your loved one is in can become a place of discovery. The Lord is in that valley. In fact, He brought you to it. Lean on Him while He leads you to springs of living water in a dry and thirsty land.
